About The Role

 
MFL Teacher (Maternity Cover) – to start September 2026

Salary: Main Professional Grade (MPS/UPS)

We are looking for a MFL Teacher (French/Spanish) in a school which offers outstanding opportunities for professional development.  Twyford Church of England High School, an Ofsted outstanding school with a thriving Sixth Form, is one of four Twyford Trust schools.  The successful applicant will be joining us at a time of growth and the organisation therefore offers good promotion prospects for motivated and energetic teachers who support the ethos of our schools. 

The curriculum and assessment frameworks are stored on the school’s VLE (‘Copia’) to ensure that all materials are accessible for students, parents and staff.

The department comprises 12 teachers, led by the Head of Department and Key Stage Coordinators. The department is highly supportive and has a proven track record of successfully training new staff. Many of the team also have additional responsibilities across the school.  The successful candidate may teach groups from all key stages and all three languages are taught from KS3 to KS5.

Part-time applications can be considered for the right candidate. Exact hours per week will be discussed and agreed at interview and the salary will therefore be a pro rata figure according to the hours worked.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to teach MFL to KS5
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement

  • A commitment to the ethos of the school

About the school

Twyford CE High School, Acton

Twyford CE High School was set up by the LDBS in 1981.  The school has an excellent reputation and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and SIAMS (April 2017).  It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas.  Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 975 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 500 students to the Sixth Form. 

Twyford CE Academies Trust

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a Multi Academy Trust which comprises four secondary schools in the London Borough of Ealing.  The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable our heavily oversubscribed existing school, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community.
