William Perkin Church of England High School is a highly successful and heavily oversubscribed school which achieves exceptional outcomes for its students. It opened as a Free School in September 2013 and its progress measures at GCSE have consistently placed it in the top 5% of schools nationally. It has a flourishing sixth form with a particular specialism in STEM subjects. William Perkin works closely with Imperial College London, The Royal Society and the Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) to ensure our success as a centre of excellence for STEM. The post-holder will be joining an innovative, ambitious and energetic Art department that seeks to deliver an outstanding, three-tiered curriculum to students of all National Curriculum levels. Students here are driven to succeed, and their progress is monitored through half termly assessments. We work collaboratively to create a curriculum that inspires, challenges and nurtures students, using ambitious outcomes, which leads to thorough subject knowledge and sustained progress.
The new post-holders will prepare our students for GCSE and beyond. You will join an innovative, ambitious and enthusiastic staff group that seeks to deliver an outstanding curriculum, and will be well supported by an experienced Senior Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will feel passionately about the need to ensure that disadvantaged pupils achieve in line with, or better than, their non-disadvantaged peers, particularly in Art & Design.

The successful candidate will have:
- A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
- Ability to teach Art & Design to at KS4
- Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
- An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
- An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
- An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
- Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
- A commitment to the ethos of the school
