We are looking for is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic 2ic Spanish to support the Head of Department in leading our thriving Modern Foreign Languages team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Spanish specialist ready to take the next step in their career or someone with leadership experience eager to make a meaningful impact.
Our department is committed to innovating, developing and sharing the best practices in MFL teaching which enable students of all backgrounds and abilities to succeed and enjoy our facilitating subject. Teachers work collaboratively within the department and across our trust, with a highly developed curriculum, lesson resources and assessment structure in place to support teachers to deliver consistently outstanding lessons. The teachers in the MFL department, the wider staff body and our leadership team are very supportive and we pride ourselves on the exceptional professional development we offer our teachers, which includes weekly training sessions and coaching. The main purpose of this teaching role is to achieve outstanding progress for all classes taught and to deliver outstanding pastoral care to students both within Spanish lessons and when delivering the pastoral curriculum to a tutor group. Our teachers work collaboratively to promote the school’s ethos and vision through, for example, active engagement with the school’s house system and wider learning opportunities.
Ealing Fields is easily accessible by public transport with the Piccadilly line a short walk away and regular buses to Ealing Broadway which is served by the Central, District and Elizabeth lines. The successful candidate will have:
- Support the Head of Spanish in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the department
- Lead on curriculum planning, teaching and learning strategies, and assessment within Spanish
- Monitor student progress and contribute to raising attainment and achievement
- Teach Spanish across Key Stages 3 to 4
- An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
- An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
- An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
- Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
- A commitment to the ethos of the school
